Walking through another city

Walking in Chicago made me think of something interesting…. When in a new city, we follow the rules until we see others break them. Crossing the street, we wait until the walk sign, until we see the locals walk on a red signal. Then, almost instinctually, we walk too. Why?

Is it because we see them and believe that they know better. Maybe it’s because they know their drivers and police better than we do. Maybe we follow like sheep. What do you think?
